Assembly instructions Fullblack Outdoor
We recommend reading these installation instructions on a larger screen and not on a smartphone.
The Full Black air sun collector package includes
- 1 m. plastic pipes
- Box for the Fan.
- Adapter or solar cell
- Built-in thermostat
- Pre-assembled weatherproof wall brackets
- Cover plate for the exhaust hole
For assembly, you need
- Hole saw 55/56 mm.
- Long drill (if the wall is thick, a guide hole must be drilled so that the hole is cut from the outside/inside. It is also possible to use a chisel/knife to "knock out" the hole that is formed during the hole sawing, and thus be able to drill the hole from one direction).
- Tape measure
- Saw
Step 1 1
Step 1 2
Step 1 3
Step 1 4
Step 1 5
Attach the supplied black cover plate over the exhaust hole (on the right side of the picture.) If a grille is desired over the exhaust hole, it must be as "open" as possible to avoid obstructing the air flow. Many different variants are available for a few pennies in hardware stores.
Now you are ready to connect the fan (on the left in the picture) to a power source. The following steps 6-8 show how you can select either adapter operation or solar operation.
Step 1 6
In case of sun cell operation,
- Place the solar cell next to the Full Black, for example at the side or above it,
- Measure how much cable is needed ("normal" lamp cord can be used).
- Insert the cord through one hole on the junction box, and connect the brown wire to + (on the right side of the box).
- Tighten the sealing ring around the cable. The solar cell can be placed horizontally or vertically, if placed vertically, the contact box must be at the top, so that any moisture/condensation does not run into the contact box.
- Attach the solar cell to the wall with, for example, two "L" screws, on the long or short sides, or two screws with a slightly larger disk that go over the edge of the solar cell. It is important that the L-screws or disks do not cover/shade the smallest part of the solar cells, as this will affect the functioning of the solar cell. They may only "pinch" the outer profile edge of the solar cell.
Step 1 7
To avoid drilling an extra hole in the wall for the solar cable, peel off the insulation on the cable, drill two small holes at the bottom of the black connector for blow-in pipe, and thread the solar cell cables through so that they together with the thermostat cable can be pulled through the blow-in tube ((and connect with fan).

Parts/components included with the purchase of Fullblack Outdoor
- Built-in thermostat,
- Fan,
- 1 m. Plastic pipes
- Black connector (between air sun collector and plastic pipes)
- 10 W solar cell or adapter
Fans
The fan has reinforced components to withstand long operation, which means that it takes approx. 5 sec. for it to start.
Placement
The product can be placed vertically or horizontally, the colored hole in which the fan is placed (important) should be downwards when placed vertically.
Dehumidification
As summers are humid, it is excellent to use Full Black models all year round, as warm air binds moisture. Since doors/windows are open on hot days, the warm moisture-binding air is ventilated out with the rest of the air. Despite the warm air blowing in, the indoor temperature does not feel noticeably warmer due to the decrease in humidity. Dehumidification is always good.
ATTENTION! Avoid overheating.
If Full Black is turned off in the summer, it must be covered as the absorber can get over 200 degrees, exposing the product to unnecessary heat. For example, use a piece of cloth or the plastic from a black garbage bag to cover it.
The absorber is not an "ordinary" black plate but a so-called radiation absorber - which gets extremely hot in sunlight, and provides the uniquely high efficiency even at minus 20 degrees and colder.
Solar cell/adapter connection
Connect the positive cable from the solar cell/adapter to the blue thermostat cable, connect the brown thermostat cable to the red fan cable (+). The negative cable from the solar cell/adapter is connected directly to the black cable (-) of the fan. Ordinary lamp cord 0.75 sqm, can be used for the solar cell. To avoid drilling an extra hole in the wall for the solar cable, peel off the insulation on the cable, drill two small holes at the bottom of the black connector for blow-in pipe, and thread the solar cell cables through so that they together with the thermostat cable can be pulled through the blow-in tube (and connect with fan)
The solar cables are threaded into the fan box at the side of the fan mouth. Peel off the insulation of the solar cable so that both cables are manageable. A 55/56 mm hole saw is suitable for the hole in the core.
NOTE! Be careful not to short-circuit the solar cell/adapter and fan, as this will burn the fan. Do not push the fan box too hard against the inside air inlet pipe, as this may cause the fan in the box to move out of position.
Air plastic pipes
The air pipes shall not be attached deeper than the depth of the black connector. If the air pipe is pushed all the way to the back of the absorber plate - the air will not enter/exit.
- Secure the pipes with duct tape to the black connectors. If the wall holes are 55 mm, the tape will also act as a seal when the outdoor unit is attached to the wall, as the tape deforms, compresses slightly, and thus seals.
- Roughly cut the tubes to the thickness of the wall and attach them to the black connectors with the tape,
- Put Full Black on the wall and mark on the inside of the wall where the pipes should be cut.
- Take down the outdoor unit, finely cut the pipes, put back in place. The supplied black cover is used to seal the inside of the exhaust pipe mouth.
- Everyone has a different idea of how it should look on the inside, but many use white plastic ventilation grilles. When choosing a grille, it is good if it is sparse enough not to obstruct the airflow too much.
Measurement of temperature
When measuring the temperature of the exhaust air, the sensor is placed at the bottom of the exhaust hole as it gives the relevant temperature. Measuring a distance away from the exhaust hole, gives a misleading value as the warm air leaving the exhaust hole immediately mixes with the cooler indoor air.
Possible breakdowns
If the irradiation is weak (in case of sun cell operation), just on the verge of powering the fan, it runs in short intervals, which is perfectly normal.
In case of sun cell operation
For solar cell operation in rooms/buildings with lower temperatures/unheated, there is no need to connect the thermostat cable as the solar cell automatically speed controls the fan (with the irradiation) and prevents that heat dissipates out through the pipe. The outlet temperature is always warmer than the inlet temperature. Therefore, connect the solar cell directly to the fan.
In residential environments, with indoor temperature >20 degrees, the thermostat should be switched on.
Manual Indoor.
Parts/components included with the purchase of Fullblack Indoor.
- Adpater.
Location and operation
Indoor is placed inside windows with good light penetration. Put the adapter in a so-called day timer, and set the operating time for daytime. Already at very narrow sun angles, indirect light, Indoor produces supplementary heat. Indoor provides supplementary heat during daytime in virtually all types of weather. The adapter is adjustable from 3-12 V, which allows the noise level to be controlled, but the best efficiency is obtained with 12 V operation.
Most people who use it in residential settings set it up when they go to work and take it down when they come home in the afternoon, so the fan noise is not significant.
ATTENTION! When Indoor is placed in the window, the fan must always be running when Indoor is exposed to direct sunshine. Otherwise the Indoor risks getting too hot and deforming. A turned on fan ensures that the heat generated from the absorber is blown out from the outlet hole.
